Using AdWords to promote products

AdWords is a quite powerful PPC (Pay-per-click) advertising platform. However, there are some caveats when using it in online marketing.

AdWords has some tight policies, especially regarding affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing isn't denied by the policies per se, but for example, the bridge page policy prohibits advertising a page that's sole purpose is to drive traffic elsewhere. Google doesn't prevent you to use direct links to affiliate sites, but that has some other caveats.

In some cases the business model of affiliate business isn't clear, and might feel a misleading. These cases result either in a disapproved ad, or even account suspension. Once your account is suspended, it's suspended for life - even if you create a new account, it will be automatically suspended.

However, straightforward product marketing with a clear landing page (the page where an ad leads) should be okay. That means that with SFI, you need to market the products at TripleClicks.

After selecting a product you want to market on Google AdWords (make sure your affiliate id's are intact, otherwise you won't get a commission), just write a good ad and point it to your product page.

In case of TripleClicks, the automatic approval doesn't work; the advertisement will be categorized as Disapproved (Limited), Consumer Advisory. However, the product PAGES themselves do not violate any AdWords policy, nor any Consumer Advisory policy AdWords might have. This means you can get the ads approved by clicking on the Consumer Advisory link, and contacting AdWords team about the wrong classification.

One reason TripleClicks has been set to be automatically as Disapproved (Limited) might be the penny auction the site has. Google considers this against consumers best interest, and thus disapproves ads that point to penny auctions.

When contacting AdWords about your TripleClicks -product ad, mention that there are no Customer Advisory Bulletin's against TripleClicks.com or the product in question. Also mention that there are no penny auctions on the landing page itself, as that is just a normal product sales page.

This should get the ad accepted, within a business day or two. Properly designed ads and selected keywords should get you valuable traffic to get you commission of TripleClicks products. And the best thing? When you get a sale, all future sales from that person will be commissioned to you!

Yours sincerely,
